Boris Petronje

The Swiss-Serbian bass studied at the conservatories in Novi Sad and Belgrade with, among others, Biserka Cvejić.
He gained his first professional experience in the season 1996/97 at the Serbian National Theater, the Opera House in Novi Sad, where he performed in works such as «Die Fledermaus» (Strauss), «Il Trovatore» (Verdi) and «Tosca» (Puccini). As part of an engagement at the National Theater in Belgrade, he interpreted roles such as Colline («La Bohème»), Sparafucile («Rigoletto»), Il Frate («Don Carlos»), Sarastro («Die Zauberflöte») and the Sagrestano («Tosca»).
In addition to regular concert performances, he appeared at the Zurich Opera House during the 2003/04 season, among other roles as Sarastro («Die Zauberflöte für Kinder») and Don Macrobio («La Pietra del Paragone»).
​At the Feldkirch Festival 2006 he made his debut as Commendatore («Don Giovanni»). From 2004 to 2011 Boris Petronje gained a reputation as a member of the ensemble at the Lucerne Theater with countless roles, including among others Basil Basilowtisch («Der Graf von Luxembourg»), Monterone («Rigoletto»), Don Basilio («Il Barbiere di Siviglia»), Gremin («Eugene Onegin»), Dulcamara («L'Elisir d'amore»), Il Commendatore/Masetto («Don Giovanni»), Frank («Die Fledermaus»), Il Conte Rodolfo («La Sonnambula») and Enrico VIII («Anna Bolena»).
As a freelance singer, Boris Petronje was able to repeat his success as Enrico VIII («Anna Bolena») with the Opera St.Moritz. He performed Dulcamara («L’Elisir d’amore») to great critical acclaim with Gartenoper Langenthal, as Don Fernando («Fidelio») with Garsington Opera and Musikkollegium Winterthur, as Kálmán Zsupán («Der Zigeunerbaron») with Operettenbühne Liechtenstein in Vaduz, as Don Profondo («Il Viaggio a Reims») with Luzerner Theater in Lucerne, as Don Basilio («Il Barbiere di Siviglia») and as Theophil («Marie und Robert») for Theater Biel Solothurn.
​In the Tellspielarena Interlaken at the «Opera Tell» he was celebrated in the roles of Melchtal, Walter Fürst and -riding on a horse- as Gessler. While returning with Il Commendatore («Don Giovanni») to the Lucerne Theater, he made his debut as Zaccaria («Nabucco») in the Biel Convention Center.

Boris Petronje, internationally acclaimed Swiss-Serbian bass, made his debut in his home country at the age of 18 and at the age of 24 he made his debut on the stage of the Zurich Opera House. During his subsequent engagement at the Lucerne Theater, he gained a reputation with numerous roles, including Don Basilio, Gremin, Dulcamara, Il Conte Rodolfo and Enrico VIII. Guest engagements have taken him to the St. Moritz Opera, the Gartenoper Langenthal, the Operettenbühne Vaduz, the Biel/Solothurn Theater and the Interlaken Tell Festival in roles among others as Don Profondo, Zaccaria, Gessler and Zsupan. In addition to his opera career, he inspires audiences at numerous concerts at home and abroad.
